Rockets & Secret Weapons
Aggregat 3 (A3) was the next logical development step in the German rocket programme of the 1930s. Developed between 1935 and 1937, it was intended to combine the insights from earlier models and enable a controlled flight trajectory for the first time.
Despite several failed launches, the A3 delivered crucial data for the further development of the programme. The findings from these trials fed directly into the development of the A5 and, later, the infamous V2.
Histovia Film explains the technical features of the A3, the test sites on the island of Greifswalder Oie, and why the A3's failure was, paradoxically, an important milestone on the path to the V2.
