The A5 was the most important test model on the path to the V2. Between 1938 and 1942, it was intensively tested on the island of Greifswalder Oie and at Kummersdorf. Unlike the A3, the A5 was a great success – it flew stably and under control.
The A5 was similar in size to the A3 but featured a completely redesigned guidance system. The insights gained were essential for the development of the A4/V2. Without the A5, the V2 would not have worked.
