Atlantic Wall
The Naval Coastal Battery Siegfried was a key section of the Atlantic Wall on the northern French coast. Built under the command of the Kriegsmarine, it formed part of the extensive defensive belt intended to protect the European Atlantic coastline against Allied landings.
Histovia Film documented the still-surviving bunker installations and gun emplacements on site. The footage shows the current condition of the facility and explains its military-strategic significance during the Second World War.
The reel examines the battery's construction, its armament and the garrison – and how these fortifications ultimately failed to withstand the Allied advance.
