Reenactment & Living History
At D-Day Sisseln 2026, specialised reenactment and living-history groups presented authentic portrayals of German soldiers from the years 1939–1945.
The reenactment group "Die Westerwälder" portrays various Wehrmacht units and, on request, can also depict Luftwaffe pilots as well as naval soldiers.
This project focuses on weapons knowledge: the video presents the MP40, the Sturmgewehr 44 assault rifle and a Panzerfaust, explaining their function and historical context. All weapons shown are deactivated and comply with legal requirements.
We documented these portrayals on film, showing the historical knowledge and care with which the reenactor community approaches its task – not to glorify history, but to preserve and explain it.
